5/21/26 – Thursday Night Ride (Adam & Nancy’s Paninis)
Sponsor Highlight:
We ❤️ these races and have had the pleasure to be a part of them for several years now! We get to see the enjoyment the courses bring to racers from all over the East Coast and how the funds raised by this non-profit impact our local biking community.
Two BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS
✅ 1st – a 106-mile course with a $500 payout to the winner has been added to GRIT! Time to get Ultra Gritty!
✅ 2nd – GRIT is officially a stop on the USA Cycling Junior Gravel National Series. This is for kids 15-18 and it isn’t just a win for GRIT, it’s a win for Pennsylvania Gravel as the only East Coast race in the series. Know a teen that should be there? Regardless of if they want to earn points towards nationals, GRIT is excited to have them compete in this special bracket. Check out the courses, how it works, and short category for kids new to the sport.
In addition, Greenwood Furnace is a MASS Race, and you can earn points towards a Mid-Atlantic Super Series Win!
Why else should you love Seasons races? We bring the PVPP Water Tower (Roy’s Creation!), stock our support station full, and get to spend the day with Ben the Mechanic from The Bicycle Shop and the McAlvey’s Fort Medics. Run mainly by Happy Valley Women’s Cycling and their race team (who know exactly what racers need!), they’re well organized and bring the fun and encouragement needed on these challenging courses.
If you live for Rothrock, gravel or MTB riding and enjoy giving back to our amazing cycling community, we encourage you to participate or volunteer. Sign up for the GRIT Gravel Grinder or the Greenwood Furnace Mass Race.
-Cheers!
Hi Everyone!
It was a brisk and damp start to the season! Mother Nature obviously missed the memo about our start date. Regardless, we welcomed 63 riders, Elk Creek welcomed us back with beers, Dubbs Grub warmed us up with delicious meals, and the Village Mercantile debuted their new NA beverage stand! Great turnout for a cool night!
This weeks forecast looks perfect with a high of 64 degrees, a gentle breeze and 🌤️ partly sunny skies! We’re introducing a new route (see below👇) and welcoming back Adam and Nancy’s Paninis Food Truck! Try the Cuban, Caprese, Ham and Cheese, Pizza, etc…and did we mention the mini donuts?! Yum!
This weeks safety tips
We have a full tip sheet about riding in Penns Valley. But here is a quick list that stands out for this week’s ride.
- ✅ Stay in your lane, especially near crests of hills and around corners.
- ✅ Stay in the shoulder. There’s a short section along Route 45. Please single up and stay on the shoulder. Want to pass? Be patient (it’s only a short hill) or pass when no cars are approaching from behind.
- ✅ Be aware. Remember there are riders and cars around you, especially at the start. Ride only 2 wide and leave room for riders/cars to pass.
