Hey All!
It should be a great day for a ride tomorrow with temps expected to reach the mid to high 70’s. Whew! What a relief!
Penns Valley is having quite a bit of roadwork done over the next few weeks so we’re limited in where we can direct the route. So, this may feel a little repetitive with previous routes this year, but we’re headed back to Woodward to do the “Apple Butter Backwards” route. We’ll need to watch for gravel patches here and there.
And for those of you who cycle out to our rides, or cycle in Penns Valley anytime, please be aware of some known roadwork (basically, stay off Rt 192, Penns Cave Rd and Penns Creek Rd)…
- Fresh Oil + Chip on Linden Hall Rd.
- Fresh Oil + Chip on Rt 192 (Linden Hall to Centre Hall to Millheim Narrows)
- Fresh Oil + Chip on Penns Cave (from RT 192) and Penns Creek Rd (to Coburn)
- Pipe Replacement & Cleaning – Pine Creek Rd. Mon-Fri. Flaggers out. Gravel patches here and there. We don’t expect this to effect our ride, but if we find it will, we’ll change the route on Thursday.
Reminders:
Park: Behind the Millheim Fire Co. in the grass.
Bring: A bike (any will do, even e-bikes!), helmet, and water bottle; $3 donation requested (cash or credit accepted)
Waiver: You must sign a waiver once each year. Download ahead/Print here.
Ride Smart! Single file as cars approach/pass, leave room for other riders to pass, stay to the right cresting hills and around curves. BE CAREFUL CROSSING RT45!
We’ll cheers with beers Elk Creekside afterwards. Food will be available from the trailer. You are also welcome to pre-order from the main menu for pickup inside at the bar after the ride (approximately 7:30pm depending on your speed).
Thanks and see you Thursday!

Download the 19.7 Mile Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42815718
Short-cut: Skip the loop and stay straight on Pine Creek Rd until you reach Rt 45 at the Post Office in Woodward. Turn around and ride back the way you came. (16.4 miles)
For those that have not ridden with us, these rides are at your own pace. We mark the course, but it’s smart to download the route through the Happy Valley Ride with GPS link provided in case rain washes our markings away. Call Roy/the Support Truck number if you are lost or can’t finish your ride for ANY reason. 814-360-0243
