Shop Highlight: Brookside Bikes
Brookside’s Mifflinburg Ice Cream Ride this Saturday!
We’ll meet at Brookside Bikes at 10:30am (arrive early to sign in – no fee – and peruse the store). We’ll then head out as a group for a back roads ride to the Old Mill Creamery. We’ll head back to the rail trail where you can set your own pace and enjoy as much of Purple Cow Ice Cream and Eatery, and Amy’s Frosty Freeze as you’d like. Road, gravel or MTB friendly. Get Details and RSVP here. ABOUT BROOKSIDE: Brookside Bikes isn’t your average bike shop. Daniel and John lead a staff that is helpful and crazy about cycling. They have a knack for fitting you with the perfect bike – from a road, gravel or full suspension MTB to eBikes, cruisers and kids bikes (Trek, Electra, Gazelle, BMC and upcycled bikes) – listening to your needs and working hard to help you find precisely the right bike and accessories. And whether your bike needs a minor adjustment or a major overhaul, their service department shines. Ride with confidence. Ride with Brookside Bikes!
Hi Everyone, As many of you know, we had a serious accident last week with a rider going down on the pavement. We’re glad to report that the rider returned home late that evening after a thorough visit to the ER. We want to thank Penns Valley EMS and the Mount Nittany Health van emergency staff for transport and an evaluation that helped send him to the right place. And thank you to all of the riders who jumped in to help in the situation and expressed their concern. We are lucky to have such a thoughtful and caring community in Penns Valley and PVPP. We wish our rider a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back soon. We know accidents happen. But let’s use this as a reminder about route awareness. We’ve had a few close calls recently and want to make sure everyone stays safe out there. A few reminders:
- Review the route each week. We hear it too often, “I’ll just follow the person in front of me.” Know where to go— arrows on the road are easy to miss, especially among a group, while chatting or watching for cars.
- Download the route (below) to your GPS device or phone.
- Leave room
- Avoid hard breaking.
- Stay in your lane and know your surroundings.
Thanks for helping us keep PVPP a safe and welcoming group to ride with.

This Week’s Route:
PLEASE ADVISE: We’re switching up the route due to poor air quality expected due to Canadian Wild Fires. Airnow.gov has posted an expected air quality rate of 165, which is unhealthy for all. Those with health conditions need to be particularly careful outdoors. Everyone else: Reduce your exposure by choosing less strenuous activities or shortening the amount of time you are active outdoors. The PA Dept of Environmental Protection has also posted a Code RED Air Quality Alert for all of Central PA. So, we’re going to save the PVPP – Big Oak to Harter Loop (17.8 miles) for next week (7/23). It’s particularly hilly. Instead…. Download the PVPP – Spring Mills Out and Back Please note the temporary light in Coburn due to construction. STOP at the light and wait. No hurry on this ride. Shorten it: Turn around any time.
Sign your Yearly Waiver Online A waiver needs signed once per year. Save time at registration – sign your 2026 waiver online! You’ll get a copy for your records.
