We’re headed through the Millheim Narrows for a beautiful ride through the amish farmland of Madisonburg, Smulton and Rebersburg.
THE MILLHEIM FIRE COMPANY WILL HOPEFULLY FOLLOW US THROUGH TO KEEP PASSING TRAFFIC AT A MINIMUM. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR LANE AND TO THE RIGHT SO THAT FASTER RIDERS CAN PASS SAFELY.
Notes: Cancellations due to weather will be announced by 4pm the day of via email, social media and on the website.
The route will be marked with YELLOW arrows this week.
See you Thursday!
Here’s the Happy Valley Ride w/ GPS route for July 20th:
Shortcut: You can shorten this route by skipping the first loop through Madisonburg, or the last loop through Rebersburg. Ask us at registration for further details if needed.
You’re welcome to ride a non-designated route. We’ll still respond to support calls. If possible, please choose a route in the same general area so that all can easily be assisted.
Pedals and Pints in Greenland!
One of our regular riders (when he’s not globetrotting!), Sridhar Anandakrishnan, Professor of Glaciology and Geophysics at PSU, takes our Pedals and Pints mock up jersey everywhere he goes as his official flag around the world. This photo was taken with his team member in Greenland. Previous trips include Antarctica (see photo on our Community page)! In the winter he will sometimes update us on his findings on global warming with a presentation over a pint or two at Elk Creek Cafe. Hopefully he has some time to do so again this year!
We miss you, Sridhar! Have fun in the snow!
Penns Valley Veterinary Clinic
One of our first sponsors of the season was Penns Valley Veterinary Clinic in downtown Millheim run by Dr. Joe! Open since 2003, PVVC is a mixed animal clinic that treats companion animals, dairy cows, horses, some birds and exotics, as well as other livestock. Covering a radius of 50 miles, their large animal ambulatory services are mainly for cattle and horses, but they also provide care for sheep, goats, swine, llamas and alpacas. The solar powered companion animal clinic sees dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, pot-bellied pigs, backyard poultry and some pocket pets. Services include, but are not limited to digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, cryosurgery, electrosurgery as well as a complete clinical laboratory. PVVC provides medicine, general and orthopaedic surgery, as well as emergency services.
Dr. Joe also owns the Meandering Mallard Coffee Shop next door, also a PVPP sponsor!
Thanks Dr. Joe for your significant support this year!
