Ice Cream Ride to Old Village Mercantile!

Last week was a ton of fun. Even with a tough route, 95 riders showed up to enjoy an evening in Penns Valley. And WOW! Doesn’t that pavilion look nice?! Only 4 more Thursday night rides. We hope you’ll continue to join us as we wrap up the season. But before we get into this week’s details…
Announcement: End of Year Ride 9/27
We’re changing things up this year! Instead of our traditional Sunday ride and picnic, our End-of-Year Ride will be held on Saturday, September 27th—the same day as Elk Creek Café’s Oktoberfest, with proceeds benefiting the Millheim Fire Company. These folks generously support us by offering their new pavilion and providing safety escorts through the Narrows during our Brush Valley rides, and now it’s our turn to show up for them.
If interested is volunteering before, during or after the event, check out the opportunities and sign up here. For a 2 hour shift, you’ll be rewarded with FREE Admission + a Mug + Beer and Food tokens.
This Thursday – Ice Cream Ride!
We’ll visit the Olde Village Mercantile this week for an ICE CREAM STOP! They’re stocking up on Meyer Dairy Ice Cream this week and we’ll announce the flavor list on Wednesday/Thursday!
After Ride Eats!
Elk Creek Cafe is our food vendor of the week! Here’s the menu:
Mushroom Meatball Sub w/ marinara, provolone, mozzarella & banana peppers w/ choice of chips or tossed salad w/ house Italian vinaigrette – $16
Beef/Pork Meatball Sub w/ marinara, provolone, mozzarella & banana peppers w/ choice of chips or tossed salad w/ house Italian vinaigrette – $16
Ride Details:
- PVPP provides a welcoming environment for all riders, any bike and speed.
- Arrive between 5:15pm and 6pm (park in the field behind Millheim Fire Company).
- We leave promptly at 6pm for our marked 17-22 mile ride (with short-cut options).
- A PVPP support truck will be available to aid riders.
What to bring:
- Any bicycle (road, gravel, mountain, recumbent, electric, etc.)
- A helmet (this is a MUST)
- Water bottle
- $3 Donation – Credit Cards accepted (proceeds are donated to local PV charities at the end of the season)
- An appetite! We’ll have Elk Creek food and beers!
This Week’s Route
Aaronsburg Ice Cream Route (15.8 miles) – VIEW/DOWNLOAD
We’ll do the Long Ln to Paradise loop first, then take Pine Creek to Broad to the Olde Village Mercantile.
Short-cut: Skip the first loop. After the first 2 miles, turn left onto Pine Creek Rd. and proceed with the end of the route (8 miles)
