6/8/23 – Miles for Mark

6/8/23 – Miles for Mark

We’ll celebrate Pedals and Pints co-founder Mark Rupert with the first annual “Miles for Mark” bike ride. We hope by dedicating an annual ride to Mark that his spirit will continue to help support P.V. Pedals & Pints and our local community.

Mark passed in February. He was a good man with a kind heart, contagious smile and a fierce spirit that carried him through a long, courageous battle with various health issues that never defined him. He found spirituality and strength in nature and always led his life with a positive attitude. Mark left a legacy of courage and grace and was an inspiration to all that were fortunate enough to know him.

Mark loved his daily bike rides at dawn and especially loved his role as the face of Penns Valley Pedals and Pints – particularly welcoming riders each and every week and setting the tone with his welcoming smile and the after-ride mood with his music! We plan to hold a ride for him each year and hope you can make our 1st Annual Miles for Mark ride June 8th, 2023. It will end with a beer and cheers to this great man.

THE ROUTE – PLEASE READ
We’re riding the Apple Butter Loop this week with one additional safety note. There has been recent road damage at approximately mile mark 2.2 to 2.8 with 2 to 3 inch deep gouging of the road surface. This is on Penns Creek Rd on the uphill side as we approach the first small climb of the route. The Township is aware of this damage but I don’t know if it will be repaired in time for our ride. If not, I will spray RED chalk around the areas as best I can. Be aware on the return ride of these areas since it will be on the downhill and on the sharp lower turn. Our advice, stay to the right in both directions and use extreme caution when passing in these areas.

Want more raffle tickets? Every additional $5 donation = 1 ticket.

We ask that everyone gathers in the parking lot just before 6:00 so that I can say a few brief words.

We’ll ring the bell 🔔 when it’s time to roll!

See you Thursday!
